This is something I never imagined I'd be writing. In the past 3 weeks, life as we know it came to a halt. My beautiful Mother, Diane, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of esophageal cancer, that has metastasized to other parts of her body. The days since have been filled with fear, heartbreak, and moments of gratitude we never expected to feel so deeply. (We haven't made any public announcements regarding my mother's diagnosis, because we are still in the process of receiving all the definite, and correct answers about her health, which we will pass along to family and friends as soon as we find out more.)
My mom has been self-employed for four decades. She has always been strong, very independent, and hardworking. This diagnosis came suddenly, and due to how quickly, and unexpectedly this all came upon us, she is having to take off from work. As her children, we have come together to care for her and to make sure she is supported in every way possible.
We are now facing unexpected expenses, medical needs, and household bills that have added an overwhelming financial burden to an already emotional time. Since she will be more and more off of work, and being self employed, there is no PTO or anything like that to help when life suddenly happens like this. Our only wish is to keep my mom comfortable, safe, and surrounded by love without the constant worry of how we will manage everything.
If you are able to help financially, please know that your generosity will never be forgotten. Any donation, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference for my family.
Even more than donations, we ask for prayers. Prayers for strength, peace, comfort, and healing would mean the world to us right now. I am so thankful to still have my mom here with us today, and every day with her is a gift I treasure oh, so deeply.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers.
