For the past four years, BLK + BRWN. has been more than a bookstore — it has been a gathering space, a classroom, a safe haven, and a living archive of Black and Brown stories and traditions. Together, we’ve hosted authors, workshops, youth programs, book clubs, and conversations that reminded us what community can be.
Now, as we prepare to close the physical doors of BLK + BRWN., we are planting the seeds for what’s next: Fieldnotes.
Fieldnotes will be an intentional evolution — a space for writing, gathering, and documenting Black life and imagination. It will carry forward the lessons we’ve learned while giving me the quiet I need to deepen my writing and bring new literary and cultural projects to life.
But transitions require resources. Your support will help cover:
- Closing costs of the bookstore (final bills, moving expenses, storage)
- A period of rest + writing, to prepare for Fieldnotes
- Early development costs for Fieldnotes (digital platform, research, community workshops)
Our goal is $15,000, which will allow me to close well, rest well, and begin again with intention.
If BLK + BRWN. has impacted you, if you believe in the power of storytelling and community, I invite you to help carry this work into its next chapter.
Every donation — whether $5 or $500 — helps make space for what comes next. Thank you for walking this road with me.
