Our friend is a queer and working class woman.
She has been forced into deep debt after the death of a very close friend in June, with a high interest overdraft to pay for living and funeral costs currently at around £1.7k.
She has been forced into taking extra shifts at work to try to clear the debt, often working 6 days a week. This exacerbates her health issues, and leaves little time or space to rest, see loved ones, or grieve... Despite all this, she has still spent the last few months supporting and caring for grieving friends, friends facing the prison/legal system and others.
As her friends, we have taken the initiative to try and crowdfund what we can, to try help her out of this cycle. She expressed that she doesn’t want to have to go to others for help, (for this reason please tick the anonymity box if you donate and if you know her, please keep this quiet from her for the time being) but we think something needs to be done ASAP and we know that if anyone is deserving of this, she absolutely is.
We know money’s tight but please spare what you can, especially if you have a steady income - makes all the difference. Genuinely don’t have the words for how much this person deserves to have the weight of debt lifted off her shoulders.
When one of us is stronger, we all are. xxx
