Help our friend Matt McGee get back oh his feet!

Hi everyone, it's your old friend Matt McGee. It sure has been a while. What a journey behind us and hope of a bright future ahead of us.

Recently, I have had some significant life changes; my family and I are experiencing a new beginning.

As many of you know, I felt a "calling" to a spiritual life years ago. My search led me to a lifestyle of extreme self-sacrifice, even to the point of taking a vow of poverty in a communal living setting. I have lived that way from 1997 until a few months back in 2022. Through quite a series of events that I will spare you the details, I realized that I had gone down that road far as I wanted to, and was ready for major change toward independence. My wife, Norah, and I decided to stop living that lifestyle.

At 46, I am now faced with a very real and practical challenge. We have embarked on a new path, but I have no credit history, no renters history, no resume, no references, no savings, and no retirement etc. Probably difficult to imagine, right?

We are making the most of it and working very hard but not really out of the woods yet as far as stability. Someone recommended "go fund me" to which I was hesitant at first...perhaps not wanting my life to be too public or sort of embarrassed at my situation...having mixed feelings. But then started remembering all the great people of my past and all the love and friendship and decided to swallow my pride and with the help of some friends (thank you Morayma), go for it.

Probably wouldn't have set this up if not for my 3 small children. Orah (the genius) 11, Moshe (the gorilla man) 9, and Atsereth (the sweetie) 7.
