200 Days Update

Introduction
Since the war started on Gaza in October of 2023, we have been living in a state of terror, anxiety, and fear. Our hearts are exhausted from the loss of loved ones. Each day passing is getting more difficult than the next. 177 days of displacement for Christo AlSayegh family to St. Porphyries Orthodox Church in Northern Gaza leaving their home, memories, dreams and ambitions.

Our Story and Background:
Hello, I am Rawan, a close friend of Rana AlSayegh and her family. To those who know us and have observed us together, it has often been assumed that we are sisters. This assumption holds true, as Rana is considered part of my family. Since the conflict in Gaza began, I have been in regular contact with Rana, checking on her and her family daily, and offering prayers for their safety, resilience, and strength to endure this tragedy and survive. Despite the challenges Rana faced in reaching her family in Gaza, she maintained her faith and strength to support her loved ones. The impact of this situation has weighed heavily on us who are outside Gaza, so one can only imagine the hardships faced by Rana's family inside the conflict zone. They endure destruction, relentless bombings, scarcity of essentials like food and water, lack of medical care, and a profound loss of hope.

The war Impact:
Below is a message from Christo AlSayegh elder brother of Rana AlSayegh, father of 4 kids and a loving brother to 5 siblings who has been living the daily horror since October fearing the death and loss of his family and friends.

“We are running out of time; we currently reside in northern Gaza at the Orthodox Church in a catastrophic indescribable situation. People are losing their lives due to lack of food water, medical supplies and safety. Help me get my family out to safety so that my wife and daughters can survive and reunite with our only son and pursue their education and future.”

After 6 months Christo’s siblings failed to help him and his family to evacuate from Gaza city to the Rafah border as Gaza city has been under blockade since the beginning of the war. Difficult living conditions, no food, no water, no electricity and no medical supplies. Since the war began Christo’s family along with many other Christian families were displaced to Al-Zeitoun area and took shelter at St. Porphyries Church that was later targeted and bombed on October 19, 2023, resulting at least in 17 people killed and a dozen more injured. As the war on Gaza continues, Christo’s family has nothing left and still trapped in Gaza city as it becomes more critical as time passes and their fear for their lives increases.

Our Mission and Goal:
Rana and I have strong faith in God and You to help us reach our goal to help Christo and his family (wife and three daughters) evacuate Gaza and reach a safe country as soon as possible so he can reunite his family with his son who is currently living outside of Gaza. In order to do that we have to raise funds to cover their transportation and required exit fees from northern Gaza to the Rafah boarder and into Egypt. As of now the fees estimated are $5000 to $8000 per person. Your generous contributions will be used to fund our family of 5 out to safety. Please consider donating to our GoFundMe and sharing this with others. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference. We sincerely thank you for your support.
