My name is Kariem, I am 27 years old, and I am writing on behalf of my family as we struggle to survive the war in Gaza.
Our family has seven members: our parents, myself, my siblings Muhammad (23), Nada (18), Dima (13), and my sister Suzan with her two little children.
What breaks my heart the most is my little sister Dima. Since the war began, she has been suffering from night terrors and panic attacks. She tells me:
“I used to love going to school, but since October 7 I haven’t gone back. I am so scared I cannot even go to the bathroom without my mom.”
Since that day, we have been displaced three times—from Gaza City to Khan Younis, then to Rafah, and now back to the ruins of Khan Younis. We lost our home, our belongings, and even the little things that once gave us comfort. Today, we live crowded in a single small room with relatives, without electricity, water, privacy, or hope for normal life.
My hardworking father never imagined that we would one day have to ask strangers for help. But this is our only chance. Crossing Rafah—if it reopens—will cost over $5,000 per person, not including rent and basic living costs that have become unbearably expensive. We have already lost more than $50,000 in savings, and now we are left with nothing but hope and the kindness of people like you.
From the heart of devastated Gaza, we ask you to help us:
• Secure safe passage whenever the border opens.
• Afford temporary housing to protect our sick mother and the little ones from harsh tent life.
• Cover urgent daily needs like rent, food, and medicine.
Your donation today can help save our lives and give us a chance at a new beginning—far away from bombs, fear, and endless displacement.
