After losing everything in a flood in 2018, my future wife and I moved to Florida to start over. We found jobs and a small three-bedroom home, just big enough for us and the occasional guest. Life threw us more challenges: plumbing issues that took months and several companies to fix, and just recently, our air conditioning stopped working. With three of our adult children and four of our nineteen grandchildren living with us, the house is always full. The Florida heat makes it nearly impossible for the youngest kids to sleep, and it’s tough to keep everyone healthy and comfortable.

Last month, I finally married the love of my life after eleven years together and raising nine kids. Our wedding was postponed several times, but we made it happen in just three days, with only her parents able to join us. Right after, COVID hit our home, and more family moved in. Now, with three adult children in school, my wife applying for her Master’s, and myself working to further my education while helping with homework and raising four children under six, the challenges keep coming. The broken air conditioner is the latest hurdle, and it’s affecting everyone’s well-being.
