I went to bed on Tuesday, August 12th, and when I woke up, my whole life fell apart.

My name is Anna Snyder, and I am, or was, a current resident of Mustang on the Trail along with my mom Annette, her boyfriend Darrell, my sister Sara, and our cat Lily.

On August 12th, my mom came home from work and helped me meal prep for the school week. After that, I ate my dinner and went to my room to work on stuff for school—never saying goodnight or I love you before falling asleep. At approximately 2:45 am, I woke up to a burning smell, and my mother came rushing into my room because she smelled it too. We saw smoke from the air vent and in my closet. We immediately grabbed everything we could and got out. I grabbed clothes, shoes, and my backpack filled with my computer and school stuff, while my mom grabbed the cat. She left her phone without realizing, and all she and her boyfriend have are the clothes on their backs, the cat, my mom's purse, her boyfriend's wallet/phones, and their cars. Darrell knocked on doors to make sure everyone was out while my mom took the cat, and I looked at what was going on. The apartment connected to us was heavily smoking and caught on fire when the firefighters arrived. Everyone thankfully got out safe—my sister had gone back to college the morning prior, so she was out before any of this happened.

Everything we have is gone, and we need help now more than ever.
