My daughter, Camila, is currently hospitalized with severe lead poisoning, and doctors expect her to remain in the hospital for quite some time. As if that wasn’t difficult enough, our home was recently condemned due to unsafe conditions, leaving us without a place to return to. We lost so many of our belongings—beds, furniture, and even our children’s toys—because of the contamination and the sudden move.

Once Camila’s lead levels start to decrease, she can’t be discharged from the hospital until she has a safe space to be in without worries of further lead exposure. This makes finding safe, temporary housing even more urgent for our family.

Right now, our family’s most urgent need is for temporary housing until we can move into a lead-safe apartment on September 1st. We’re also hoping to replace the essentials we lost, especially the things that bring comfort and normalcy to our children during this stressful time. Every donation will help us cover the costs of a safe place to stay, new beds, and the basic items we need to rebuild our lives.
