On April 9th, my family and I moved into a new house after a standard home buying process. We worked with licensed realtors and had a full home inspection done by a licensed home inspector. The seller disclosed that there were no major problems and everything was in working order. However, immediately upon move-in, we discovered that the main stack—a huge pipe running from the top floor to the basement—was broken. This meant we couldn’t shower or use the upstairs bathroom without water and toilet waste pouring into the basement. Our homeowners’ insurance sent water mitigation services to set up drying equipment, but the plumber’s work is not covered. There is a high risk of mold growth due to toilet waste leakage, and the kitchen had to be partially demolished because of moisture. We are now displaced from our home with our two kids, only four days after moving in. These problems began on day one. In addition, the washing machine is broken, and we had to order a new one. The fridge may be broken as well, and electrical work needs to be redone. We are facing a series of urgent repairs and unexpected expenses that have left us overwhelmed. Funds raised will go toward temporary housing, food expenses, plumbing repairs, a new washing machine, possibly a new fridge, and electrical work. Your support will help us cover these urgent needs while we work to restore our home and return to normal life. We appreciate anything you can contribute to help our family through this shocking and horrific time.
