Our family’s life changed suddenly when a fire broke out in the apartment unit next to ours. While we are so grateful that everyone — including our three kids and two cats — made it out safely, the smoke damage to our home was extensive. The property management group and fire department have told us that our apartment is uninhabitable for at least six months, and possibly longer. We’re now facing the challenge of finding temporary housing and replacing many of our essentials, all while trying to keep things as normal as possible for our kids.

We do have renters insurance, but we’ve learned there are gaps in coverage that leave us needing immediate help. Many of our belongings are no longer safe or usable, and we’re working to provide basics for our kids, our household, and our pets. The funds raised here will help us cover the costs of temporary housing, groceries, and essentials while we’re displaced. We’re taking things one step at a time as we figure out what comes next, and every bit of support helps us move forward.
