On April 2nd, 2026, our lives changed in an instant. After 14 years and raising our four children in the same apartment, a gas explosion in the basement shook our home to its core. The windows shattered, the back door was blown open, and thick black smoke quickly filled every room. Living on the first floor, we felt the impact firsthand—the ground shook beneath us, and we rushed to get our family and our dog to safety. We are so grateful that we all made it out unharmed, but the damage to our home and belongings is overwhelming.

We have no rental insurance to cover the loss of our property or furnishings. As working parents with three children in school now (ages 8, 14, and 15), this unexpected disaster has left us struggling to meet even our most basic needs. The Red Cross has kindly offered some immediate help with linens and possibly a hotel for a few days, but we know it will take much longer to recover and find a new place to call home. We urgently need assistance with food, clothing, and, most importantly, funds to secure a new apartment or rental house for our family.
