Hi, we’re the Vellmet family — two parents and three amazing kids (two under 10) — and we’re reaching out during an incredibly hard time.

A few months ago, a hurricane swept through our area and knocked a large tree into our backyard. It crashed through our patio and caused serious damage to our home. Just as we were trying to recover from that, a prolonged drought hit — and our only water source, a private well, completely dried up.

We’ve now been without running water for over a month. We have already invested $2000, just to be told that it’s a bigger issue than they anticipated. Every day, we haul water just to bathe, clean, and cook. Some days we’ve had to travel miles just to fill containers or use public showers — it’s exhausting and expensive.

We’re doing everything we can to stay afloat, but between the storm damage and now needing a new well, we’re at a breaking point.

We’re hoping to raise $12,000 to help with:

-Drilling and installing a deeper, reliable well for clean water

-Removing the fallen tree and repairing damage — including the broken patio

-Covering food and travel costs to access water and bathing while we wait

-Restoring a sense of comfort, safety, and dignity for our kids
