Help Our Family Hold On to Everything Our Autistic Son Needs

Donation protected
Hello, we are Sam and Eve. For the past six years, this house has been our family’s home. It’s where our children have grown up, where birthdays and Christmases have been celebrated, and where we built the stability and routine our family depends on every day.

Recently, we were completely blindsided by devastating news: the property is being sold, and within the next three months (by the middle of September), we have to leave our home. Adding to the shock, this news came just one week after we were assured we could stay and were preparing to sign our annual lease renewal.

Emotionally and financially, we are struggling to process what comes next. We have a 4-year-old daughter and a 7-year-old son who is non-verbal, has high-functioning autism, and requires constant support for additional special needs. Stability, familiarity, and routine are absolutely vital for him, and after six years, this is the only real home he truly knows.

Sudden change is very difficult for him, and as parents, our biggest fear is the impact this upheaval could have on his wellbeing and sense of security. Because of our son's complex needs, he and his sister cannot safely share a bedroom. He requires his own space to stay regulated and secure, making a 3-bedroom home an absolute necessity for our family. Not only does this make our housing search significantly harder and more expensive, but it also brings an added layer of heartbreak: our 4-year-old daughter is about to lose the very first 'big girl' bedroom she only just moved into.

Keeping Our Children Close to Their Schools

One of the hardest parts of this situation is that it’s absolutely vital we remain close enough for our son to continue attending his special needs school. We still remember the overwhelming tears of relief we cried the day he was finally accepted. The school has been wonderful and is helping him in ways we could only ever dream of. He has made incredible progress there, and the support, understanding, and consistency they provide have changed his life and ours as a family.

Losing access to that support because we are forced to move too far away would be devastating for him.

Adding to this, our daughter has just been accepted into the school next door to our son's and is due to start later this year. After everything our family is facing, knowing both of our children would finally be settled into schools close together gave us a sense of stability and hope for the future. We are desperately trying to hold onto that.

Why We Are Asking for Help

Like many families right now, we were already trying to manage rising living costs, but the reality of needing to secure a new home so quickly has become overwhelming. Between deposits, rent in advance, moving expenses, and storage, we are simply not financially prepared for this situation.

We never imagined we would be in a position where we needed to ask for help, but right now we are doing everything we can to keep our children safe, secure, and supported through one of the hardest periods our family has ever faced. We have always tried to manage things on our own, and asking for financial help is something I personally find incredibly difficult.

Any support, no matter how small, would help us work toward:
✅A deposit and rent for a new home
✅Moving and transport costs
✅Storage and essential household expenses
✅Remaining close to our children’s schools and support networks
✅Creating as much stability as possible for our children during this transition

Even if you are unable to donate, sharing this page would mean so much to us.

We promise to keep you all updated on our housing search and how the kids are doing. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, supporting, and helping our family find stability.
