Hello, my name is Synthea, wife of Erick. Together with our two little ones, we are the Pena family.

Recently, we had a terrible fear come true when Erick was racially profiled and forcibly detained by ICE in October, despite having approved paperwork and an ongoing process. There he spent 3 months, missing our first Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas together in 12 years, as well as spending his 29th birthday alone in jail. Along with our attorney, we fought endlessly and were graciously able to bring him home recently, but our fight is not over. Erick still faces possible deportation while we try to continue our legal process to obtain his residency. During all of this, we have accumulated debt trying to keep up with life and legal costs, and still have quite a long and costly journey ahead of us.

Since being released, Erick continues to work tirelessly for our family, despite the constant fear of this happening again, which allows me to continue studying as a full-time student and stay-at-home mom. However, we could definitely use any and all help. Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story.
