The past few months have been some of the hardest our family has faced. After both Brian and I lost our jobs, we did everything we could to stay afloat. I started driving for Uber while searching for new work, and Brian kept looking for opportunities. Unfortunately, in the span of one month, I was in two separate accidents that totaled both of our cars. The loss of our Ford Explorer was especially devastating—we had just finished paying it off with the last of our savings, hoping to avoid monthly payments while Brian was still out of work. When the accident happened, insurance and Uber both refused to cover the damage, leaving us without a car and no way to recover what we’d invested.
Our family relies on having a car for everything. I use it to drive for Uber and to get to my part-time job at the Ford Wyoming Center. Brian is about to start a new job, and we’re excited for that fresh start. We also drive our oldest, Elijah, to and from work, and our youngest, Adalynn, needs a ride to preschool every morning. Without a car, we won’t be able to get Brian to his new job, get the kids to school, or keep up with the side jobs that have helped us get by. Our rental car is due back on Monday, and after that, we’ll have no transportation at all.
I’ve never been one to ask for help, but I’m reaching out because I don’t know what else to do. I know we have good friends and family, and I promise to pay forward any kindness we receive—whether it’s giving rides, helping with housecleaning, or supporting others in need. If you have suggestions or ideas, those are just as valuable to us as donations. We’re hoping to raise enough for a down payment on a reliable car so I can keep working and our family can get back on track. Thank you for reading our story and for any support you can offer.
