- After taking our van to a repair shop for a full diagnostic, we finally received answers about the problems we've been experiencing. We were able to get the air conditioning repaired, and we now have fully functioning air throughout the entire van. Unfortunately, the diagnostic also revealed a much more serious issue. The mechanics discovered a burnt valve in the cylinder head that is causing a constant engine misfire. Because of how deeply the engine must be disassembled to access and repair the damaged valve, the labor involved is extensive. The estimate for this repair alone is $3,685.
Our van has been our family's only transportation for the past 6 years. It gets my husband to work, helps us care for our children, and handles all of our daily needs. It will finally be paid off next year, which makes this situation even more heartbreaking.
Over the last several months, the van has experienced ongoing mechanical problems, including multiple incidents where it shut off while driving. As parents, this has been terrifying, especially when traveling with our children. While we are grateful to have the air conditioning working again, the engine diagnosis revealed a problem that now threatens the future of the vehicle.
My husband is an amputee and already faces challenges that many people never have to think about. Reliable transportation is essential for him to get to work and for our family to manage daily life. If the van becomes undrivable, it could put his job at risk and leave our family without dependable transportation.
We are asking for help with the cost of repairs or, if repairing the van no longer makes financial sense, assistance toward finding safe and reliable transportation for our family. Every donation, share, and prayer means more than we can express.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, support our family, and help us keep moving forward. We are staying positive, keeping our chins up, and hoping for better days ahead.
