Help Our Dreams Come True (Baby Mynes)

My name is Ashley. I'm 29 years old, work full time for the navy, and I'm currently going to school to become a school counselor. I live with my husband in San Diego, CA. My husband's name is Patrick. He's 30 and a sailor in the US Navy. We have been together for over 6 years now and married for 3 and 1/2 years. We met in my small hometown in upstate New York in December of 2015. We've been inseparable ever since! For the first four years of our relationship, Patrick was constantly being deployed on a submarine. Since he was gone essentially 6 months a year, we did not want to try to start a family until he was on shore duty, meaning he wasn't leaving to go out to sea. In May of 2020, we finally made it to California to start our 'new normal.' Since then, we have been trying to start a little family of our very own.

 

As you may know, Patrick and I recently found out that our dream of becoming parents has hit a snag in the road. We will have to continue our journey to parenthood with some help from an amazing team of doctors and nurses here in San Diego, through in vitro fertilization (IVF). After two year of trials, surgeries, and exhausting all other options, it has come down to IVF being our only option. It was devastating to hear the words "IVF is your only option to have a biological baby," but we've decided to see this as a blessing that we DO HAVE AN OPTION! Not everyone will be as blessed as we are to still have a chance.

Although the Navy has some of the best insurance, most of the costs will not be covered for me (Ashley) as I am not active duty. We were very hopeful that we would be able to cover costs of this on our own, however, that is not feasible for us right now. The total costs of all of the procedures we need done is around $18,000. We have set the goal for $10,000, just as a baseline number. Any amount you can spare would be wonderful. Every single dollar will be going into our baby fund.
