Help Our Dad Recover After a Devastating Car Fire

Another Barnard family tragedy — but this time, we’re counting our blessings. We are incredibly grateful that our dad made it out alive, suffering only minor injuries including light burns and smoke inhalation. It could have been so much worse.

What happened?

While driving, our dad heard a loud bang. With no safe place to pull over, he unbuckled his seatbelt and continued slowly, hoping to find a suitable stop. Moments later, a woman came running toward the car, shouting that she had seen flames coming from underneath the vehicle.

He pulled over at the first spot he could as the car burst into flames. Thankfully he was able to jump out of the car before it completely exploded.

The car completely burned out and along with it, all of his vital tools that he uses for his small business as a scale calibration technician.

This has left him unable to work — and as the sole breadwinner in the household, this loss is devastating both financially, emotionally and mentally.

In addition to replacing his equipment, we are hoping to arrange therapy and emotional support to help him through this difficult time.
