Hi everyone,
We recently lost our beautiful mum to Parkinson’s Plus — a cruel disease that took her from us far too quickly. Over the past five years, our dad, now 74, was her devoted carer. They were together for 46 years, and her passing has left him heartbroken and utterly exhausted.
On top of grieving, Dad is still caring full-time for my younger sister, who has Down syndrome, while trying to manage the family home we all grew up in. The house is in desperate need of repairs before he can even think about selling and downsizing — something that would bring him much-needed relief and a fresh start.
But the list of jobs is overwhelming:
The pool is unusable and now black with stagnant water
The upstairs balcony has no flooring and is unsafe
Countless smaller repairs are adding up
And emotionally, he’s just not in a place to handle it all
I have young children and do everything I can to help, but we’re reaching a point where we need support beyond what we can manage ourselves.
This fundraiser is to help ease the pressure on Dad — to restore the home enough so he can eventually sell and begin a new chapter with a little less weight on his shoulders. He’s spent his life caring for others. Now it’s time we try to give something back to him.
Any amount, no matter how small, means the world to us. Thank you for your kindness, your support, and for helping us take care of someone who has always taken care of everyone else.
With love and gratitude,
Amanda (Daughter)
