Why We Need Your Help
When COVID hit the Bronx in March, we reached out to raise money for our kids and families. We needed computers, hotspots, and tech for our teachers. Our families also needed food, medical supplies...and help with funeral costs.
Ten months later, our school community is still persevering and still succeeding. But, the suffering and hardship in our community have only grown since March. The pandemic receded for a while, only to be replaced with unemployment, hunger, and homelessness.
We have been there with our families every minute, distributing more than $70,000 in direct aid for food and rent (with the help of so many amazing supporters in our last GoFundMe).
But, more and more of our 340 families are struggling to pay for food, rent, and the internet costs that allow for virtual learning. More and more of our students need new devices and hotspots to continue learning.
Who We Are
Comp Sci High is a computer science high school in the Bronx whose mission is to ensure every student goes to college and graduates with high tech skills and real work experience to build a successful career.
In our first year, our scores put us in the top 2% of all Bronx high schools, and top 6% of all high schools in NYC. Last year, in a pandemic, nearly half of all our sophomores attained college-level scores on the AP Computer Science exam.
And just a few weeks ago every single 9th and 10th grader completed virtual mock interviews with Morgan Stanley.
Comp Sci High is a special place. We want to keep it that way. But, we need your help.
1. We funds to continue providing our families with direct rent and food assistance.
2. We need more support to make sure we can continue to provide students with wifi and Chromebooks through this school year.
Please help us support our families and serve our kids:
● $250 provides a student with a mobile hotspot.
● $350 buys a student a new Chromebook with enough power to join class remotely.
● $1000 is enough to provide our remote Juniors with the laptops they need to do their Digital Design classes remotely.
