With deep sadness, we share the sudden passing of our beloved Imam Shakeel Ahmed, a devoted religious leader, mentor, and community servant whose impact reached far beyond the walls of any mosque.

Imam Shakeel was a humble and compassionate figure who dedicated his life to serving others — from leading prayers and offering spiritual guidance to mentoring youth and uplifting families in times of need. He was a lifelong learner and a source of strength for many in the Muslim community of Edmonton and beyond. His selfless service extended to several masajid across Alberta and British Columbia, including his leadership at Masjid Al-Fatima.

His unexpected departure has left his family — including his beloved wife and children — facing not only deep emotional grief but also urgent financial hardship. As the primary breadwinner, Imam Shakeel carried the financial responsibilities of his household, and his loss has placed a significant burden on his loved ones.

This is a family that gave so much to the community — and now, in their darkest hour, they need our help.

We’re calling on our community to come together and honor Imam Shakeel’s legacy by easing the burden his family now carries. Your donation — no matter the amount — will provide real relief, help restore stability, and allow them space to grieve with dignity.

As the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“Seek out your vulnerable on my behalf. Verily, you are only given provision and support from Allah due to the weak among you.”
