Help Otto Rebuild and Recover
Donation protected
Hi,
We’re reaching out with full hearts and deep hope to ask for your support for someone incredibly special to us, our dad and Poppy, Otto.
Over the past few years, Otto has been courageously battling an inoperable brain tumour. Through rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, he has shown incredible strength, resilience, and positivity in the face of something most of us can’t even imagine. The results have been positive with his tumour stable and just as we thought he might be getting some relief, life threw him another curveball... or two!
Late January, Otto was dealt another devastating blow. Otto’s home, where he’s found comfort through his treatments, was discovered to be infested with termites. The infestation has caused significant structural issues that require urgent and expensive repairs. To make matters worse, the damage is not insured, leaving Otto with an overwhelming financial burden at a time when he should be focusing on his health.
Heartbreakingly, in recent weeks Otto has received a new diagnosis: a tumour on his liver, likely cancerous. He is currently going through the necessary assessments and treatment planning, with surgery ahead that will involve removing nearly 40% of his liver. This news has been incredibly difficult to process, but true to his character, Otto is meeting it with strength and determination.
Otto is facing an unimaginable storm — physically, emotionally, and financially. Between ongoing medical treatments, the urgent home repairs, and the cost of simply living on a retired defence force pension, Otto needs our help more than ever.
Your support, whether through a donation - no matter the size or by sharing this page, will go directly toward:
- Critical repairs to make his home safe and liveable again
- Medical expenses
- Support for basic needs during this overwhelming time during treatment and recovery
Otto has always been the first to offer help, lend a hand, or share a laugh when someone needed it most. Now it’s our turn to be there for him.
In addition to financial support, practical help with home repairs would be an incredible gift right now. If you're a tradesperson or know someone in the industry, we would be so grateful for any time, skills, or materials you can offer to help restore Otto’s home and make it safe again.
The termites have been professionally treated and exterminated, but the damage they caused remains extensive. To protect the home moving forward, a termite perimeter and penetration barrier system now needs to be installed — a necessary but costly preventative measure.
We’re also currently seeking assistance in the following areas:
- Carpentry (for frame and fit out repairs)
- Plastering & Cornice repairs
- Painting
- Tiling
- Installation of termite barriers (perimeter and slab penetrations)
- Carpet and flooring installation
- Bathroom renovations
- Building materials or supply donations
If you’re able to contribute in any way — through skilled labour, donated materials, or connecting us with someone who can help, we would be incredibly grateful. Every bit of support brings us closer to getting Otto back into a safe, stable environment.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page with your friends and community means the world to us.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for standing with Otto and our family during this incredibly difficult time.
With love and gratitude,
The Lendvai Family
