Hi everyone, my name is Oscar Jacob Day and I am 9 years old. My Mummy says I am very cheeky! I love spending time with my friends, going on walks in my wheelchair (I really love seeing trees and animals) and going to watch football with my Daddy.
My Mummy will tell my story:
Oscar was born at 29 weeks gestation and was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at 3 weeks old. Oscar has undergone numerous surgeries on his legs and hips yet always comes out smiling- he is the bravest person I know.
Oscar cannot communicate in the same way as his peers and is unable to walk, talk, sit up or feed himself. Despite this, he is always smiling and laughing and makes the most out of every opportunity.
Whilst there is some funding available via the NHS, the wheelchairs they are able to provide are heavy and outdated and not suitable for the modern world (or children). Oscar likes nothing more than being outside, being wheeled through puddles and going 'off-road'. Unfortunately, the chair he has, cannot withstand these activities so we are raising money to buy Oscar a chair that will allow him to do what other 9-year-olds do- to play in the mud!
We are putting together a team to raise money by completing Yorkshire Warrior 10k in April 2022. 'Team Oscar' will be going through lakes, over obstacles and pushing ourselves to the limit to raise money to purchase an off-road wheelchair for our superstar. Please support us in this cause- your donations mean more than you could ever realise.
