I'd like to share a request for support that has travelled down from the lips of a helpless, but also selfless Grandmother who is simply wishing to provide her grand-daughter the life that she deserves.

Tamanna is a 22-year-old woman from Balaganj, Bangladesh, who has faced more hardship than most people experience in a lifetime. Orphaned as a young child after her father died in a tragic tree-cutting accident and her mother passed away from grief several days after - since then Tamanna and her younger brother have been raised by their devoted grandmother. For the past decade, their grandmother has worked tirelessly as a housemaid and other humble work around their community, doing everything she can to provide food and shelter for the children. Despite her sacrifices, the family has always struggled to make ends meet, and luxuries like new clothes, toys or special celebrations have never been possible.

The community have tried to lend a helping hand throughout this time, however, when majority of the community come from similar humble backgrounds, this help and support can only go so far.

Now, as Tamanna prepares to start a new chapter in her life, her grandmother and the community want to give her the chance to experience the joy and dignity of a proper wedding. A groom from a similarly humble background has been found, and both families are coming together to support the couple. However, the combined resources of both families are not enough to cover the costs of a wedding ceremony, clothing, food for guests, and basic essentials for the newlyweds.

Tamanna has never owned a beautiful dress, and this fundraiser aims to provide her with a wedding gown, a meaningful celebration, and the essentials needed to begin her married life with hope and dignity.

The wedding is set for August 18th, just days away, and the funds are needed urgently to make this dream a reality. The grandmother, groom’s parents, and respected community elders will oversee the use of every donation, ensuring that every dollar goes directly to the wedding and helping Tamanna and her new husband start their life together. Your support will give Tamanna the experience of love, care, new parents and an extended community she has missed for so long, and help her step into a brighter future.

This is an opportunity to take action in fulfilling our duty of attending to the needs of the Orphans and gaining our share in Sadaqah Jaariyah.
