Help Oreet and Her Six Children Escape Abuse Now

Donation protected
We are urgently raising funds for Oreet Moore, a courageous mother of six who has just escaped a 17-year nightmare of domestic abuse. Her bravery has saved her children, but now they need your help to start over.

A Mother’s Brave Escape
After enduring a brutal and terrifying assault, in which her abuser threw barstools along with a cast iron skillet at her head, and punched her repeatedly as she shielded her baby in her arms, she knew she had reached a breaking point. That night marked the end of a long and painful chapter.

After a day out with friends, Oreet’s abuser suddenly and violently took her nursing infant from her arms. Later that night, without warning, he quietly dropped off two suitcases containing her belongings at a friend’s home, effectively forcing the breastfeeding mother out with nowhere to go. With her children temporarily in the care of their father the abuser, Oreet found safety at a nearby women’s shelter. It was there she realized she would need strength, support, and legal help to begin rebuilding her life.

She knew she had to protect her children and get them away from him, especially as she remembered heartbreaking moments when he had physically harmed their daughter, once punching her in the nose and leaving her bleeding. And with her youngest child just a year old, Oreet made the brave decision to escape as soon as it was possible. She left everything behind, focused solely on getting her children to safety and starting over from scratch. They are now facing life with no home, no belongings, and no resources.

Imagine living in constant fear, knowing your abuser has plastered flyers across Texas with your photo and a $1,000 bounty on your head, for information about your whereabouts. This is Oreet’s reality.

For years, Oreet has endured relentless abuse: isolation, manipulation, and the loss of her independence every time she’s tried to rebuild her life. Each step forward has been met with intimidation and control.
Now, more than ever, she needs our help to stay safe, regain stability, and reclaim her freedom.

While trying to maintain a safe shelter, the abuser has relentlessly harassed everyone close to her. He has attempted to break into homes, kicked down doors, and even slashed the tires of family and friends nearby. Everyone lives in fear for their safety as he spends hours parked outside people’s homes, using intimidation tactics to instill terror. Like Oreet, those around her are desperate for this nightmare to end.

What They Need Right Now
Oreet and her six children have found temporary shelter, but they are starting from scratch. Your donation will go directly toward:
* Safe Housing: Security deposit and rent for a new home
* Basic Essentials: Food, clothing (from baby to teen), diapers, toiletries, school supplies
* Furniture & Household Needs: Beds, linens, cookware-everything they had to leave behind
* Transportation: Helping Oreet get to job interviews, school runs, and appointments
* Long-Term Stability: Support as Oreet works to rebuild her career and provide for her kids.
Legal Protection is Underway
A warrant is out for her ex-partner’s arrest, and the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) is involved to ensure Oreet gains full custody. But while the legal process unfolds, their immediate needs cannot wait.
