The Dollhouse creates 15 jobs prioritized for trans umbrella people.

My name is Mia Mizrahi, and I’m working on opening The Dollhouse — a transgender-owned & operated cafe in the East Village, of NYC. The Dollhouse is a public facing coffee shop with a vision for equitable employment, prioritizing the hiring of transgender, nonbinary and gender-nonconforming people, serving signature coffees and teas, pastries and sandwiches while bridging communities in a culturally rooted experience, complete with a small stage and mic for local talent and live music. The Dollhouse will be more than a coffee shop. It will be destination place.

I’ve spent months searching for the perfect location and I finally found it in the East Village. The landlord and bank were impressed with my business plan. I’ve negotiated a great lease and am ready to bring this dream to life. I am contributing all of my personal savings to make The Dollhouse a reality. I’m so close, but I need your help raising the remaining amount needed to meet the bank’s personal investment requirement to unlock a small business loan for the startup costs. The Dollhouse was just an idea for my retirement plan, but when I shared it with my dolls, my friends, and just about anyone, their excitement and enthusiasm made me realize this vision was bigger than me. It became clear that The Dollhouse needed to be built—not just for myself, but for everyone who believes in a more inclusive and welcoming world, a much needed space in these times of attacks on the trans community.
