The Fertile Crescent Cultural Center is a space dedicated to celebrating and sharing the richness of the African Diaspora and other world cultures. We’ve worked hard to secure a commercial building for our center, but it needs significant renovations before we can fully open our doors. Right now, we’re holding classes and events in the backyard, but as the weather turns colder, it’s urgent that we move our programs inside.
Our center currently offers African Dance, Drumming, Yoga, and Socacise classes, along with movie nights, sip & paints, and cypher circles. The community has embraced this safe space to gather, learn, and celebrate their unique cultural traditions. One moment that really stood out was during a group cypher, when members shared how difficult it was to find consistent cultural programming—they were tired of traveling far or waiting for pop-up events. That’s when I knew we had to do more.
To make our building safe and welcoming, we need new flooring, a new sprinkler system, a second bathroom, a completed salon, and a cleaned-up garden space. With the help of local contractors and dedicated volunteers, we’re close to making this vision a reality. Once the renovations are complete, we’ll be able to expand our offerings, support other small businesses, and provide year-round programming for everyone. Your support will help us open our doors and keep this vital community resource alive.
