Help Onyx and Ionna Thrive Together

Hi! I'm Libbi and my coworker/friend needs our help.

Onyx and I work together at a small nonprofit that serves people who use drugs. We are rooted in harm reduction and person centered care. I have gotten to know Onyx in this unique context- seeing them radiate kindness and compassion to every human they meet. It is a quick way to get to know a person's values and I am so inspired by the person Onyx is and the ways they contribute to their community.

Recently, Onyx stepped up in a really beautiful way: they took over legal guardianship of their sister, Ionna.

Ionna is a 17 year old student who has recently made it out of an abusive living situation. Funds will go towards living expenses while she recovers from trauma and finishes her senior year of high school. We intend ensure that Ionna has access to the future she deserves, and want to support her as she graduates high school and becomes an adult. As a young guardian (they are 24), Onyx needs their community to bolster them up in this new chapter of their life. I am hoping to ease some of the inherent financial burden of guardianship so that Onyx and Ionna can focus on thriving, not surviving.

Ionna also has an amazing pup named Captain Beans who needs foster care until she can get her own place. He is a 1 year old pit/boxer mix who is well trained and healthy. He would do best in a home where he is the only pet because he plays rough with other animals. If you have any resources regarding his care, please reach out to me directly. In the case we cannot find a better solution, we will also need to raise funds to have him safely boarded until we can find him a cozy house to stay at.
