@oneforty opened in February 2020 and grew quickly. Establishing ourselves in the heart of West Harrow. Our main goal being community cohesion; bringing people together from all walks of life to build a stronger neighbourhood.
We are a unique hub in West Harrow offering a wide range of activities and events for the local community. We have big dreams which have been shattered by recent events.
We have already put down roots and established a lot in a short space of time. So many of you have supported us and we've created and made so many new friendships. Opening a community cafe every Saturday where we use donated food which has been a resounding success, encouraging neighbours to meet other neighbours and it's amazing to see everyone mingling in a way that just doesn't happen in an ordinary cafe. We have also had music events, supporting local musicians. @oneforty supports local artists and life drawing classes have already taken place. @oneforty is a springboard for West Harrow talent and enables local businesses and arts, music and filmmakers to thrive and we have already had an acoustic night, film event and Vinyl cafe. All of which have been a huge success allowing people to socialise and form new friendships, helping combat loneliness. So much achieved in such a short amount of time.
Heartbreakingly, there are activities and events that have to be put on hold due to the current Coronavirus crisis resulting in us being unable to generate any income and struggling to keep open. These include the following: a Friday night community meal where individuals from the neighbourhood volunteer to cook a community dinner, Camerados - Public Living Room (a space to being local people together to help each other and improve wellbeing), open mic/music evenings, cooking classes, community breakfast, art workshops for both adults and children, West Harrow market, a gallery space, an affordable space for locals to hire, a free hub for individuals to fundraise for amazing causes and much more.
We are limping along and trying to remain open where at all possible to help those in need in line with the governments guidelines. Despite this, we are still collecting food through Fareshare and Lidl 'Feed it Back' scheme and distributing it to the community. In recent weeks, the surplus food has never been so important. We have been opening up for those struggling during this difficult time, delivering food to the vulnerable, anyone self-isolating or finding life hard at this time. We have had huge support from locals who have been collecting for their neighbours.
We want to continue to support West Harrow, not only during this difficult time, but beyond and it is vital for us to survive this and for us to re-emerge stronger than ever and we need your help.
This is understandably a really hard time for all of us and we are already so very grateful to all the support of those in West Harrow before Covid 19 and we are forever grateful to those still supporting us through this difficult time and are blown away by the generous offers of help and donations.
But without funds we are unsure how our community hub @oneforty can continue.
