Help Support Omer Yaqoob and His Family After a Tragic Attack at the Local Mosque
Dear friends, neighbors, and supporters,
We are reaching out today on behalf of a humble, hard-working family in our community who is going through an incredibly difficult time. Omer Yaqoob, a husband, father of three, and a dedicated member of our local mosque, was recently the victim of a horrific attack that occurred on mosque grounds — a disturbing reminder that such acts of hate and violence can strike even the most peaceful places.
Omer and his family moved to the U.S. just six months ago, hopeful to start a new life filled with safety, opportunity, and community. But shortly after their arrival, Omer suffered a heart attack, a frightening and life-altering moment for the family. By the grace of God, he recovered and remained determined to move forward.
Both he and his wife immediately began giving back to their new community. Omer works security at the masjid, ensuring the safety of worshippers, and his wife teaches children, nurturing their hearts and minds with love and knowledge. Together, they are raising three beautiful children, trying their best to live simply and serve quietly.
They are not the kind to ever ask for help. But now, they need us.
The recent unprovoked assault on Omer while he was on duty at the mosque has left him seriously injured, unable to work, and emotionally shaken. His wife is now managing his care, their children’s needs, and her responsibilities at the masjid — all while navigating the aftermath of this traumatic event.
This campaign is to raise $25,000 to help Omer and his family with:
- Medical care and rehabilitation
- Temporary loss of income
- Basic household expenses
- Counseling and recovery support
This is a moment for us, as a wider community, to come together — not in anger, but in compassion. Let us rally around Omer and his family with the same spirit of love and selflessness they’ve shown since arriving here.
Every contribution — no matter the amount — is a step toward healing, dignity, and support. If you’re unable to donate, please share this message with others who might be able to help.
Let’s show this family that in the face of adversity, kindness always prevails.
With gratitude and prayers,
Friends and Supporters of the Yaqoob Family
