Hello! My name is Lilly and I’m from Melbourne, Australia. I’m organising this fundraiser on behalf of a dear friend of mine, Omar Jumaa, who lives in Gaza and has been displaced due to the war.
Before the war, Omar lived with his parents and siblings in two houses in northern Gaza. These houses were destroyed by IDF bombing in July and December of 2024, forcing the family to take shelter in tents.
The family currently reside in a single room at a relative’s house. To make some extra space, Omar and his brothers occasionally sleep outside in a tent. These living arrangements are not sustainable in the long term.
Displacement has devastated the family both physically and emotionally. Pointing to the rubble where the two houses once stood, Omar writes, “This is our home, here are our memories, in every corner of the house we have a memory in it.” With your help, we can work towards the construction of a new home where more memories can be made.
It is hoped that our goal of $25,000 will help to ease the hefty financial burden associated with construction. All donations will go towards funding the labour and supplies required to build a new house, as well as any expenses that may arise in the course of construction.
Please join me in helping Omar and his family as they rebuild their lives. Your support, monetary or otherwise, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Lilly and Omar
