This is Ollie (named when the vet said she was a boy and we just rolled with it)
She was around 2 weeks old in a bad state when she joined the family, July 2024, when found early morning on the way to work laying against the fuel pump at Racetrac. Took her home to get cleaned/fed and find someone to take her in. I've never been a cat person and didn't intend on it either.
I guess I lost this battle evidently, making me a liar after saying many times over the years that we weren't getting a cat.
Ollie has been in and out of the vet for the past week dealing with urinary issues, struvite crystals completely obstructing her bladder making it impossible to urinate. This severity of blockage is very rare in female cats and caused kidney damage from increased ammonia build-up, adding on to the infection. The Dr spoke said it was something he hasn't seen nearly as bad. Her bladder somehow started leaking into her abdomen and got a little hectic for a bit. They have gotten it "taken care of" for a substantial bill over $3500 after almost a week hospitalized and more in the next 12 days for the follow up appointments with her having to be sedated again for tests to be ran, switching to a certain diet requiring prescription food
This is a really hard thing to make and normally wouldn't even be a consideration but work being really slow and inconsistent, we've been doing without many wants and surviving in this economy.
