As most of you have already seen and heard, the beloved community staple, Ole Tymer BBQ, caught fire after hours on March 17th. The greatest blessing is that all employees are safe and unharmed, and that is what matters most.
Julie opened Ole Tymer BBQ in 1984, reaching back into her family’s food history and sharing it with this community for decades. This isn’t just a restaurant; it’s part of Rome’s story. Let’s help her continue that legacy.
The Ole Tymer family has been a cornerstone of this community, always showing up to support others in so many ways. They have poured their blood, sweat, and tears into this business, and they are determined to rebuild and come back stronger than ever.
Unfortunately, the building was completely destroyed, and everything inside is unsalvageable. Even with insurance, the family will face significant out-of-pocket costs and a tremendous amount of labor to rebuild and reopen. From reconstructing the building to replacing everything inside, including equipment, tools, food, and even the smallest essentials, it will all need to be started from scratch.
At this time, the family does not yet know the full financial burden ahead. Because of this, we have set a short-term fundraising goal that may change as more information becomes available. We will continue to keep everyone updated along the way. For now, let’s come together and reach this first goal.
All donations will go directly toward these rebuilding efforts.
If you are unable to give financially, sharing this page once or often makes a meaningful difference.

If you would like to help in other ways, such as donating time or labor, please reach out to Julie and Courtney directly on Facebook. As the rebuilding process begins, there may be needs for help with transporting equipment, construction, and more.
A Note from the Family:
Julie, Courtney, and the entire family want to express their sincere appreciation for the overwhelming support from the community. Their customers, friends, and family mean the world to them, and they truly have no words to fully express their gratitude.
They are eager to get back to serving the community they love and to show that appreciation in the best way they know how. The outpouring of love has been incredibly powerful, and they want each and every one of you to know how much it means.
“We see your messages, your comments, your prayers, and feel your support. While we may be slow to respond right now with everything in front of us, please know we see you, and we love you all very much.”
