Odin Garcia is a dear friend I met during my mission. Five years ago, Odin went through a difficult separation from his ex-wife, which left him with the responsibility of paying child support for their three children. Despite his efforts to remain involved, Odin’s ex-wife has not allowed him to see his kids, but he continues to fulfill his obligations and support them.

Odin has been working tirelessly for six years to pay off his child support debt. He sells empanadas six days a week, doing everything he can to make ends meet. Even with all his hard work, he can barely cover the current month’s payment, making it nearly impossible to get ahead and eliminate the debt that stands in the way of his family’s dreams.

Recently, Odin found new hope and happiness—he remarried, and together with his new wife and her 14-year-old daughter, they have built a loving, faith-filled family. Odin even had the joy of baptizing his wife and stepdaughter, and their greatest wish is to be sealed together in the Lima Peru Temple. However, in order to receive a current temple recommend and take this important step, Odin must first pay off his child support debts.

Odin and his family are some of the most loving people I know, with pure testimonies of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
