Hi, my name is Christyn, I’m a black single mom living in Seattle. I’m also a Domestic Violence survivor in the process of getting my life back together after my divorce. I’m doing this all while simultaneously working two jobs and taking care of my three -year-old daughter with an extensive list of special health needs named Nyah and my dog Bentley. To say that I have my hands full is an understatement! My daughter has had four surgeries since she’s been alive and we need one more this year that we’re aware of. She has a bilateral facial cleft and palette, a coloboma in her right eye, multiple facial clefts, she’s blind out of her left eye and last year was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. She has been going to Seattle Children's Hospital since the day after she was born and we frequent there at least bi-monthly for her regular appointments. When she has surgery I have to take at least one week or more off of work to be her caregiver and ensure that she recovers well so she can heal and we can prepare for the next surgery. It’s extremely hard given my situation to find a third job because I work five days a week and have been struggling to find another job that will allow me to care for my child with the sporadic surgery schedule that Seattle Children’s gives me.
I’m my daughter's only provider, these funds will be used for:
• Rent
• Groceries
• Daycare
• Utilities/ Bills
• Pet care
Thank you for listening to my story and please share!
