I am a medical doctor who always travels with a purpose. Recently, I traveled to Tanzania and Zanzibar for an amazing safari. I saw lions, the migration of wildebeests, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, and more. Nothing touched my heart more than the donations and generosity of Rail and Sail, the group out of Seattle that directed us. We visited villages in Arusha, Tanzania, and donated solar lights, a school where we donated school supplies and funds, food, and clothing to Zanzibar. A tent assistant, Nuru, shared that his community in Arusha (in Osunyai ward of Olturoto) had built a community place and home but had been stymied for two years because they lacked funds for the roof, which costs $6,000.00. My non-profit named QUACKS (Quorum Of United and Concerned Kids) has embraced this project to raise funds for Nuru’s community’s roof in the spirit of traveling with a purpose.
