Our family Welcomes you to the Mains Gate at Langdon farm! The Mains Gate is a 153-acre farm that has over three centuries of historic heritage located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. This uniquely magnificent property is to serve as a beacon of community enlightenment and environmental stewardship. Through sustainable practices, we are revitalizing this storied land, transforming it into a haven once again... this time for learning, healing, and growth. Imagine barns and fields bustling with activity, not just for sustenance, but for nurturing young minds and bodies. Our vision includes educational and environmental programs for horticultural and equine therapy for children and adults with disabilities, inspired by our nine-year-old daughter who has autism. There will be restored organic gardens that will nourish both body and soul and we will work with the livestock conservancy program to preserve endangered breeds of livestock. In addition to our commitment to historical preservation and community enrichment, The Mains Gate is dedicated to environmental conservation, particularly along the fragile unprotected shorelines of Harris Creek and the Chesapeake Bay. Over the past five decades, these shorelines have experienced drastic erosion exacerbated by silt runoff, losing acres of land, threatening the delicate balance of the ecosystem and especially the planted oyster beds.
Despite being faced with enormous challenges our family remains steadfast in the pursuit of restoring and preserving this incredible farm. However, our journey towards revitalization cannot be undertaken alone. We invite you to join our family, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with us as we rebuild barns, mend fences, and sow the seeds of a brighter future.
