Support NUPL's Fight for Human Rights in the Philippines

Help us raise funds for people's lawyers who dedicate their careers and livelihoods to serving marginalized communities in the Philippines! The National Union of People's Lawyers (NUPL) is an organization of legal professionals dedicated to defending, protecting, and promoting human rights. They offer pro bono legal services in strategic human rights litigation and engage in non-litigative actions, including community education, legislative advocacy, and legal research.

We are a group of NYC-based law students who just returned from a trip to the Philippines to meet and learn from NUPL. We met with both lawyers and their client-communities about their displacement from their homes, lack of access to resources, systemic violence, and other forms of governmental oppression. We directly visited and lived in communities of farmers, fisherfolk, indigenous people, and political prisoners. Not only did we learn how lawyers can aid in their struggles, but we also learned the importance of international solidarity and how our struggles are connected.

We want to continue extending solidarity and supporting NUPL's efforts. Funds will go towards legal expenses, technology needs such as new computers and printing, transportation costs to reach the communities NUPL serves, and other operational costs.

$150 supports one full-time lawyer in the Philippines for one month.
