Help nourish our neighborhood

Hi, I’m Jessica, and I’ve started a grassroots community project called the Kindred Neighborhood Collective, an initiative to support families in our Los Angeles neighborhood who are struggling to put food on the table.

This idea began simply. I saw how many parents, friends, and neighbors quietly go without. This was not because they don’t care or don’t try, but because life can be overwhelming, especially for those juggling neurodivergence, disabilities and chronic conditions, low income, or single parenting without extended family nearby.

Many of these families don’t see themselves as “in need enough” to use food banks or meal programs, even as bills go unpaid and credit card debt piles up. They often fall through the cracks, doing their best to hold everything together until they reach a breaking point or one unexpected event throws off best-laid plans for success.

This project is designed to be a community stopgap and a way to meet people where they are, offering nourishment and connection before crisis hits, so that families can thrive, not just survive.

Our mission is to share food and essentials directly with families and individuals in need, without complicated forms, disclosure of immigration status, or proof of income; just compassion, dignity, and trust.

How Funds Will Be Used

Every dollar goes toward:
  • Fresh ingredients for home-cooked meals and baked goods
  • Groceries and pantry staples for local families
  • Packaging and delivery supplies
  • Future community food-sharing events
  • Operating costs like website hosting and food storage
  • Startup costs for officially registering as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in California

(At this early stage, donations are not tax-deductible, but all funds are used transparently and locally.)

Our Philosophy

We believe that food is love, and everyone deserves to feel cared for.
This is about community connection as much as nourishment: sharing what we have, creating less waste, and ensuring no one feels alone.

How You Can Help

  • Donate what you can. Every bit helps!
  • Share this fundraiser with friends and local groups.
  • If you’re nearby and want to volunteer (baking, distributing, or organizing), reach out!

Together, we can build something beautiful; a circle of generosity that starts small and grows through simple acts of kindness.

Thank you for helping this vision come to life.
