Hi! I'm Kate Allen and I founded Norkova in 2020 after my friend, Tereza Norkova, passed from suicide in 2019. Coupled with the Covid-19 pandemic, and my own personal struggles - I felt called to start a mental health + wellness organization. I'm an entrepreneur at heart - at 13 I had a cooking business and charity "Goals for Life" where I raised money to bring soccer goals and gear to impoverished communities in Baja, Mexico.

I am passionate about using my gift of business and kindness to bring more goodness and realness to this world.

There have been a few iterations of Norkova - right now we are an active community in Salt Lake City! We offer weekly events of all kinds - there's something for everyone.

Why am I doing this GoFundMe? I have been bootstrapping Norkova since the beginning, doing everything as lean as I can, using my own savings and funds to keep things afloat, and to open a brick and mortar studio. Well - it's time to take Norkova to the next level and I need your help!!!

I believe Norkova has so much potential to create actual change in the community in Salt Lake City, and beyond.

What's the next stage?

For one - getting our ducks in a row. Accounting, legal, etc. As we grow, we need more help in these areas.

Hiring more staff: Right now, I, Kate, do the majority of backend work with Norkova. I have a little help from community leaders who mostly donate their time. Having trusted people on payroll will help Norkova expand offerings and streamline events, sign-ups, offerings, and classes. Hired roles will be in social media, partnerships, event coordination, website updates, and more.

Building out the Norkova Studio: The Living Room | We opened a brick & mortar studio, and it needs some more juice. Both in functionality (photo wall, lighting, shelves, refrigerator, + much more to make it a cohesive community space) and in management. I need help marketing rentals, offering more paid classes, marketing these classes, and managing all things studio!

Expanding beyond Salt Lake: I believe Norkova has the capability to have chapters all across the US. Once Salt Lake community is streamlined, efficient, and flourishing - we want to expand to Boise, Missoula, Bozeman, Denver, Austin, etc and keep this mission going.

Anything helps! If Norkova has taught me anything - it's that the power of community is a force to be reckoned with. I'm not one to ask for help - but at this point with Norkova's momentum, I can't do it alone anymore.
