My Nonna (grandmother) and zia (aunt) in Civitavecchia, Italy, recently suffered the effects of an intense storm that destroyed their home.

Italy has not seen weather like this, so they were not prepared for what was about to happen. My Nonna just turned 80 a few days ago. They do not have insurance, let alone flooding systems in Italy.

This home has been in our family for years, and it holds a special place in all of our hearts. The basement was completely flooded to their necks, losing their food, electricity, and power, including the first floor and furniture along with the entire kitchen. The storm was so intense it moved the refrigerator from one side of the room to the other.
