Help Noel Jared Melendez Walk Again

My name is Noel Jared Melendez 19 years old. In December 2023 I started experiencing pains on my bones specifically on my back (ribs and spine).

I didn’t know why the pain didn’t go away even when drinking pain pills. I later started with headaches I couldn’t bear with, hiccups which didn’t came off (Experienced hiccups for 2 weeks in a row) and vomiting everything I tried to eat. Ended up in the hospital for the pain in my bones and hiccups my family questioned the doctors about what was happening however only an injection was given. Starting January 2024 i started loosing strength in my legs. Immense pain on my ribs, spine, hips and my feet my strength started to deteriorate rapidly mind you all this one month and a half I didn’t had appetite to eat. For Easter to be exact the Sunday I almost left this world at just 19 years old. My pain was unbearable my eyes were already turning white and my pulse was going down.

With no hesitation a nurse was called quickly to come attend to me I was unresponsive for 1 week I didn’t talk, I didn’t move all I did was open and close my eyes.

My family started to worry so much that we were searching for answers from the doctors which they couldn’t give us a response I did X-rays, ultrasounds and no answers was given. My family was so worried that we ended going to visit a neurologist at Belize City after visiting 4 different hospitals I was told about BMA. A doctor asked me to do a MRI which i had to travel to chetumal to do one for my Brain and another MRI for my spine I also did a CT Scan for my eyes which (I lost my vision).

The MRI’s and CT Scan was taken back to Belize City for the doctor to read where he diagnosed me with Multiple Sclerosis. This sickness cannot be cured but it can be treated. The treatment is not cheap and it cannot be gotten here in Belize.

This is the reason I humbly ask for your generous assistance for me and my family. My sickness has taken a toll in our life which I need to be on pampers everyday since I don’t have feelings on my lower body I am paralyzed from my hip down. I depend on my mom and dad to bathe me and do my other things I ask for. I can only eat certain food the doctor told me to eat. The doctor from Belize City said that we need to travel to Merida so the doctor confirms my condition and tells us which medication I need and how we can get it. We have called and asked its over our budget which we cannot afford I need to be on the treatment since on a daily basis I get pain on my bones, headaches, shivers which is uncontrollable. Since I cannot walk we can’t go on a bus we will need to see how we get a private vehicle to arrive at our destination.

Everything I want in life is to start walking once more and not be on pain on a daily basis. It breaks my heart seeing my Mom crying beside me and waking up in the middle of the nights because of my pains I get. It has not been easy on me and my family.
