Hi, I'm NJ! I'm a trans and nonbinary person living in southern Colorado, and my best friend Mia and I are trying to find a better life in California—but we'll need your help to get there.

I've called Colorado Springs home for 15 years, but in that time, it's become less safe and less livable for me and my friends. Since starting my transition in 2021, I've lost most of my family and their support system (Mia and my friends are my family now). I've also experienced harassment and workplace discrimination, forcing me to leave stable, high-paying jobs, and all the while Colorado Springs is seeing rents increase and job opportunities dry up while trans people are increasingly targeted with hate and bigotry here (especially at the state level), as well as barriers in healthcare and government services.

I'm currently doing gig work to get by, but it's not enough to save anything for the future. For our safety and better opportunities, Mia and I are moving ourselves and our two pets to the Los Angeles area in the spring of 2026.
