On Sunday, October 18, 2026, Nina Garcia, her children Mia and Charles, and her mother Diana, suffered a terrible house fire at their townhome on Leestone Ct in Springfield.

Charles and his grandmother were in the house at the time of the fire and had to be rescued by Fairfax Fire & Rescue. Charles was airlifted to Children’s National where he is in stable condition after being intubated for smoke inhalation.

Diana is at a Fairfax hospital where she was also intubated for smoke inhalation. Diana is battling advanced stage cancer.

Their young cat, Butters, was rescued but their older cat, Bagel, perished in the fire.

The Garcia family is unable to live at their home and all of their belongings were damaged.

Nina is a dermatology PA at Advanced Dermatology in National Harbor, MD, but will be unable to work while her son and mother recover.

The family is in urgent need of financial assistance as they begin to rebuild their lives.
