Nick and Ann Schlee have lived in Upper Basildon for many years and during that time have welcomed many people to their beloved home and studio. Sadly on Saturday 13th March, due to an electrical fault, their much loved home was destroyed by fire. Thankfully both Nick and Ann, along with their heroic carers all managed to escape the incident without injury. We are all very grateful to the swift response of neighbours and the fire service who attended the fire for the rest of the day.
For those who live in Upper Basildon, the damage to the house is evidently extensive. For those who haven't seen it, it is hard to imagine that anything will be able to be recovered. They have lost everything.
Nick and Ann are currently staying for a few weeks in Pangbourne, whilst they arrange viewings of homes in the area to rent and for insurance to sort itself out. When they settle on a place, they may need our help with any spare furniture or utensils so they can furnish the place for the medium term.
The ultimate hope is to rebuild a new home in the place of the old, but of course this will take time. Many people have been asking how they can help this lovely couple through this difficult time and so a collection to help them through these initial stages seems appropriate. It may help them to cover any gaps in the weeks ahead. If you would like to support Nick and Ann in this way, it will be greatly appreciated. However they have already expresses just how thankful they are to everybody for the love, support and concern. For those who helped and sheltered them, those who have loved and supported them. For those who have sent messages and prayed for them - they are truly grateful and want you to know that they are well and remain positive about the future.

Thank you all so much.
-Update- 16th March. Wow thank you for your amazing response - to have met the initial target of £1500 in less that 24hrs is just wonderful - what our communities can achieve when we pull together is amazing. I've extended it for a little longer to allow for anybody who wants to add to this over the next few days to do so. I'll let them know - thank you so much.
