Hello, my name is Niccolo Sucgang. I am a Life Scout from BSA Troop 22, working to earn Eagle rank. My Eagle Scout project is to update the chicken coop at Hamlin Charter Academy. Hamlin is a Title 1 LAUSD elementary school, and roughly 33% of the students are neurodivergent. The school’s flock of chickens is an important part of the Hamlin learning community. The students observe the chickens for Science and English lessons, and learn to care for them through the after-school Chicken Tenders program. Spending time with the chickens reduces stress and anxiety among the students and staff.

I will be updating the current chicken coop and building additional chicken housing. The current chicken coop needs to be predator-proofed to prevent ground squirrels from stealing eggs. New shade sails are needed for weather defense. Additional housing needs to be built as the flock has grown from four to twelve chickens.

I’m raising funds to cover the supplies and materials needed for the project. Extra funds will be donated directly to the school to continue supporting the chickens and the Chicken Tenders program. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support!
