Help Nelly escape the downward spiral of domestic violence and to obtain legal custody of her children (and...who knows... move back to Canada to be near her family).

Domestic violence destroys the trust, the self esteem and the very own soul of the victim. After a few years, only shreds of what was once a person remain.

Days following delivering her second child, Nelly gathers as quickly as she can a few items and her two children, the second being only a few days old, to leave a relationship that is no longer loving but clearly abusive. The separation takes place under threats, lies, accusations, insults and cruelty. After the first visit, the father hides the oldest away with motorcycle friends and threatens firearm use were Nelly to try and retrieve her. For a period of two weeks, she receives no news of her daughter, from whom she had never been separated before. A lawyer obtains an order. But after her second visit with her father, the oldest reports that she has been touched. More attorney fees. A few weeks later, bystanders report to the local police that they have seen the infant left half naked on the hood of his car for longer than 15 minutes in sub-freezing weather. Again, more attorney fees. Then, court orders him to sign passport paperwork so Nelly and the children can visit her family in Quebec. The father entertains himself by filling it out with false information with each new form; an erroneous name, a false date of birth, mispelled last names; more attorney money.

We are in Alaska; each new step in the process costs thousands. Nelly has reached her end in terms of resources after already having spent $20,000, and each month costing her about $3000 in legal fees as part of the process to set herself and her children free. All the while, the abuse continues with moral and further emotional harassment

Nelly is my sister in law. Through this campaign, our goal is to father up enough money in order for Nelly and her chlldren to be legally protected, and to put an end of the spiral of violence so as to allow her and her children to be in an healthy place.

Thank you for your precious help
