Help Nellie and Her Family Through the Unthinkable
Donation protected
On what was meant to be a peaceful Sunday doing what she loved most, 10-year-old Nellie suffered a catastrophic accident while riding her horse. The horse unexpectedly spooked and bolted, throwing Nellie to the ground despite her wearing a helmet.
Nellie was airlifted to Sydney children’s hospital and is now in intensive care in critical condition. She has sustained a fractured skull, fractured spine, four broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and requires a drainage tube in her brain. She has been placed in an induced coma to give her body the best chance at healing.
At this stage, the full extent of Nellie’s injuries remains unknown. Only once she is brought out of the coma will doctors — and her loved ones — begin to understand the true impact of the trauma she has endured.
The hospital caring for Nellie is more than seven hours from her home, yet her devoted family remains by her side, navigating this unimaginable situation with strength and love. Nellie’s mother had only recently commenced a full-time role and, with no leave entitlements accrued, is now unable to work during this time of crisis.
The road ahead will be long and uncertain — marked by ongoing medical care, specialist therapies, travel and accommodation expenses, and time away from work. As their community, we now have the opportunity to surround Nellie’s family with practical and emotional support.
This fundraiser has been established to help relieve the financial pressures they are facing so they can focus entirely on what matters most: Nellie’s recovery.
Every donation, no matter the size, will directly assist with medical-related costs and daily living expenses during this difficult period. Your generosity will ensure the family can remain by Nellie’s side without the added stress of mounting financial strain.
We will continue to share updates on Nellie’s condition as her journey unfolds. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for your support, compassion, and care.
