Help Two Elderly Navajo Couples Stay Warm This Winter
Hi, my name is Shania Yazzie. I want to tell you about two elderly couples living on the Navajo Nation who need our help.
These couples have spent their whole lives working hard raising families, caring for animals, and helping anyone who needed it. They’ve always done for others, never asking for help themselves. But now, as winter comes, they’re in a really tough spot.
Their stove has broken, so they can’t cook or stay warm. Their food stamps were cut off because of government delays. They don’t have enough firewood, food, water, or warm clothes. The cold is coming fast, and they’re trying to make do with very little.
They are too proud to ask for help, so I’m sharing this anonymously for them. They don’t want pity, they just need a little support to make it through the winter safely.
Some nights, they go hungry. Some nights, they try to stay warm with what little firewood they have. Their old hogan is falling apart, and it breaks my heart to think about them living like this after giving so much to their families and community.
Life on the Navajo Nation isn’t easy. Stores are far, prices are high, and the winter is cold. But even a small donation can make a big difference.
Your donation will help them get:
-A new stove for heat and cooking
-Firewood to last through the winter
-Food, water, and warm clothes
-And if there’s any left, to repair their hogan
These elders have given so much. Now it’s our turn to help them. Any amount helps, even just a few dollars. Every bit brings warmth, food, and hope.
Thank you for reading, for sharing, and for caring. Your help will mean more than words can say.
Ahéhee’ (thank you),
– Shania Yazzie
